Shak'thiya goes by the stage name of SHAK, he began writing music, during his National Service. Around this time, he also found a love for poetry and was an avid attendee of monthly Open-Mic programmes in Singapore. It was at one of these sessions that he ended up playing his songs, furthering his musical development.
